WHY I WRITE THESE BOOKS I believe we are in a war, the souls of our children in the balance. We, as Christians, face an age-old enemy that currently seems bent on targeting our children, challenging their faith in unprecedented ways. We can ignore this fight, pretending the world is safe and free of evil influence. Or we can prepare our kids to understand the role they play, that they are not, and cannot be, passive spectators. We have our faith today only through the courage and perseverance of those who have gone before us, fighting that good fight, some paying the ultimate price. Without being “preachy,” my books portray this spiritual struggle; the characters often caught in an epic battle of good vs. evil. I seek to engage young readers with role models who cast their hope entirely upon God, persevering in faith to trust Him no matter how dark a day gets. In 'The Lorian Stones Trilogy,' they learn to use their entrusted authority as they submit to God’s chain of command. And that “He will not fight our battles for us… He will fight with us… give us strength of heart… but we must do the fighting.” If your kids are looking for clean, yet intense, faith-based stories of teens learning to stand strong, even in the face of death, I encourage you to explore these books. Though I wrote 'The Lorians Stones,' 'Horse Boy,' and 'Yodin the Rescuer for advanced readers of 11 and up, younger readers are enjoying them.
